Actor JP Reddy, also known as JP, is preparing to share a story that he believes will resonate with anyone who has moved from a village to a city in pursuit of a better education. The upcoming film, Karki, represents Tamil director Pavitran's debut in Kannada cinema. In anticipation of the film's release, JP emphasizes, "We touch upon several compelling themes in this narrative, including caste dynamics and the fundamental right to education." However, embodying the character has presented challenges, as JP shares, "Initially, I had doubts about whether I could authentically portray this role after hearing the story from our director Pavitran. Being someone accustomed to city life, transitioning my demeanor to embody a local boy was quite overwhelming. I underwent a physical transformation by shedding six kilos through dieting and minimal exercise, and exclusively wore four shirts sourced from Gurjari market in Shivajinagar during filming. My appearance and mannerisms underwent a significant change. Nevertheless, as actors, adapting to the character we portray is essential. If we can't fully immerse ourselves in a role, acting becomes insincere. To truly embody a character, one must first embrace it as an extension of oneself," JP articulates.
